Purpose of an Advisory Committee

• Link CareerTech programs with business, industry, and community needs.

• Ensure training leads to employability and career advancement.

• Strengthen program quality and accountability for accreditation.

• Serve as a communication bridge between education and workforce.

Functions of an Advisory Committee

• Program Guidance: Advise on curriculum, identify skill gaps, and recommend equipment/technology.

• Evaluation & Improvement: Review outcomes, identify areas for growth, and provide input during reviews and monitoring.

• Partnership & Advocacy: Promote programs, support work-based learning, and mentor students through CTSOs and competitions.

Responsibilities of an Advisory Committee

• Curriculum & Instruction: Recommend new courses/credentials and ensure alignment with workforce needs.

• Facilities & Equipment: Advise on equipment, technology, and safety standards.

• Student Development & Employability: Encourage soft skills training, assist with mock interviews, résumés, and networking.

• Community & Industry Engagement: Advocate to employers/policymakers, assist with student recruitment and job placement.

• Accountability & Oversight: Attend meetings, review reports, and ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.

Participate on an Employer Panel

Each fall and spring semester, Career and College Connection hosts Employer Panels inviting employers to share insight on employer expectations, the company and career opportunities. It is a great opportunity to build your brand on campus.

Schedule a Program Area or Campus Tour

Enjoy a private guided tour of a program area of interest or the entire campus.  Tours will give you an opportunity to see the classroom, visit with the instructor, ask questions, and see the students at work.

Participate in one of GPTC's Mock Interview Days to meet prospective employee candidates, promote your company, connect with faculty and build relationships throughout Lawton and SW Oklahoma.
